Everything you need to get started.

Helpful guides, setup tips, and care instructions to help you and your students get the most from Bow Buddies.

Quick start guide

1. Unpack and inspect

Remove your Bow Buddy from packaging. Check that the clip mechanism opens and closes smoothly and the soft-touch cradle is clean and free of debris.

2. Position on stand

Open the clip and position it on the upper rail of your music stand, about 6-8 inches from the music tray. The cradle should face toward you for easy bow access.

3. Secure the clip

Gently squeeze the clip until you hear a soft click. Test stability by lightly tugging—it should hold firm without sliding.

4. Stage your bow

Rest your bow in the cradle with the hair side facing up. The frog should be positioned near your dominant hand for quick retrieval between pieces.

Care & maintenance

  • Daily care Wipe the cradle with a soft, dry cloth after use to prevent rosin buildup.
  • Deep cleaning Use a slightly damp microfiber cloth with mild soap if needed. Avoid harsh solvents that may damage the finish.
  • Storage When traveling, remove the clip from your stand and store it in a protective pouch or case pocket to prevent scratches.
  • Replacement parts Soft-touch cradle inserts are replaceable. Contact us if yours shows wear or damage.

Tips for educators

  • • Use Bow Buddies as visual cues for "ready position" during ensemble warm-ups
  • • Assign numbered clips to students for accountability and organization
  • • Demonstrate proper bow staging during the first lesson to build good habits
  • • Encourage students to check clip security before each rehearsal
